Our clients were looking for an enlarged and more functional kitchen to accommodate their two ever-growing kids, as well as a rework of some existing garage and attic space.

The solution came by way of a small addition into the backyard. By extending the dining room, kitchen, and garage a mere few feet, the family now enjoys a mudroom entrance, gear storage space, an eat-in kitchen, and light-flooded dining room with patio doors to the backyard.

A beautiful yellow backsplash and large skylight brings the sunshine in on drab rainy days, while pairing perfectly with sentimental canary wood accents. Floor-to-ceiling pantry cabinets line the back wall, and a new arched opening ties into the homes original 1920’s character.

Perhaps the most transformative feature of this project came from a somewhat mundane area of the existing house. The back half of the garage was converted into a mud room and gear storage room, with a vaulted ceiling and full lite glass door leading into the new kitchen!

Now this active family has streamlined access to their bike bus morning commute, and plenty of space to stash all the gear that comes along for the ride.
