Utilize the space you already have.

Old houses often feature awkward or cramped existing spaces that can be carved out and transformed into beautiful and functional ‘new’ space. This house featured a huge attic, untouched in almost 100 years, and an awkward stairwell room that was begging to become something more useful.

The attic was converted into a primary bedroom suite with attached bath. Strategically placed skylights add head height and natural light in all the right places. And the cramped original stairwell was transformed into an open staircase and cozy corner table dining nook.

The stairs down from the renovated attic are open on one side, have a window in one of the walls opposite where the stairs turn, and lead down to a custom seating banquette.

The remodeled attic has plenty of room for plants, shelves, a chair. The doorway to the bright bathroom is on the opposite end.

This primary attic bedroom conversion's A-framed ceiling frames a window over the bed. The window has a top down bottom up shade to maintain a view and natural light, without compromising your privacy.
