McFadin Design Build is an in-house design and general contractor specializing in creative home renovations, additions, and conversions. We are looking for a Junior Designer with a collaborative spirit to contribute to a wide variety of custom residential projects. We approach design and construction as a unified team, with complete ownership over the execution of the design intent. From the development of the first sketch to the end of construction, we support our clients in bringing their vision to life.

 

Our Designers work closely with the homeowners to develop a space layout and aesthetic language that fits both the clients’ needs and taste as well as the existing architecture of the home. Once the design process is complete, the Design team drafts construction documents to be used on site and supports our field team and subcontractors in the execution of the design intent. 

 

Expected hours: 32-40 per week

Pay Range DOE: $28-35/hr

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Needed to Perform this Role:

 

• Degree in Architecture preferred

• Fluency in Rhino 3D modeling and 2D plan sets is a must

• Knowledge of architectural graphic standards

• Knowledge of building construction, materials, and systems

• Articulate in conveying design ideas through graphics, writing, verbalization, and presentations

• Ability to produce work that is complete and accurate, with attention to detail

• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate

• Ability to interface with clients with direction and oversight by others

• Team oriented mentality with the ability to work independently and the foresight to know when to ask for help

 

Your day-to-day work experience will include:

 

• Design and draft architectural details and construction documents using Rhino

• Work in all phases of project development including: 

  • code research/compliance/zoning

  • permit submittal 

  • conceptual design

  • design development

  • material sample procurement

• Involvement in constructing client proposals, presentations, and drawings
